Rooks confirm four...

By Ian Townsend

...but say farewell to a trio

Lewes yesterday confirmed that Alex Malins, Leon Redwood, Aaron Cosgrave and Ronnie Conlon are returning to the club for the 2020-21 season- but that Harry Reed (who we announced as a signing for Burgess Hill Town recently), Frankie Chappell and James Hammond have decided to leave, the latter for National League South side Eastbourne Borough.

Alex has spent most of the last six years with the Rooks, joining originally from Crawley Town in 2014- although he also spent some time with Bognor Regis Town and Peacehaven & Telscombe, as well as missing an entire season through injury. He made twenty seven appearances last season.

Full back Leon has also had some injury problems, but managed twenty five appearances last season, scoring in the win at Cheshunt back in November. He previously played at Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

Midfielder Ronnie came through the Rooks Academy and played for their Under 18 and Development sides before making it into the first team, but he hasn't looked back since. He made a dozen appearances in an injury-hit 2019-20.

Forward Aaron came in from Welling United in February, and made six appearances prior to the shutdown. Aaron joined United from Chelmsford City last summer, after previously playing for Havant and Waterlooville. He made a dozen appearances for Havant in 2018-19, scoring in their draw at Ebsfleet United.

Aaron started his career as a youth player with Colchester United, and will be known to at least some Isthmian supporters as he played for Coggeshall Town after he left Colchester, although the Seed Growers weren't in our league at that point.
