Talks underway to replace Larter

By David Watters

Wroxham's director of football Chris Wigger will take to the touchline on Saturday in Ryman North as interim manager after Stewart Larter's midweek resignation.

Appointed in May 2014 as the successor to Pawel Guziejko after standing down at Gorleston, Larter tendered his resignation at Trafford Park after Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to King’s Lynn Town Reserves in the quarter-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup.

Larter, who led the Yachtsmen to their highest ever league finish in the Non-League pyramid of eighth last season, left with the Norfolk club currently just three points and two places above the Step 4 drop zone.

Wroxham host bottom-of-the-table Redbridge on Saturday and say talks are already getting under way with potential successors. In a club statement, chairman Kevin Attree paid tribute to Larter who guided Wroxham to the Norfolk Senior Cup at the end of last season and as an attacking full-back made more than 500 appearances for the club over 11 seasons in the 1990s.

Attree said: "I have enjoyed working with Stewart since I came into the club as chairman last year. Unfortunately, results this season have not gone our way and the club’s current league position reflects this.

"All at Wroxham FC and myself wish Stewart and his family all the best for the future and thank him for his contribution and efforts with the club."

He added: "We are talking to interested parties regarding the vacant manager’s position at this time and as soon as we have a firm agreement in place with a new management team, we will make a further statement."
