Witham Winners!

Town win prestigious Essex award- and are in the running for a national honour

Witham Town FC's Soccability Programme has been selected as the Project of the Year in the recent 2020 FA Grassroots & McDonalds Football Awards. The decision was made by a judging panel consisting of representatives from Essex County FA, University of Essex, Active Essex and the Essex County FA Youth forum.

This decision has been passed on to the Football Association and the club's Soccability Programme will be judged nationally against all other counties. Winners of national awards will be notified in mid-July.

Kelvin Jordan, Witham Town's Youth Football Chairman, was delighted by the recognition:

"This is excellent news for the club and for all those who take part in the Soccability Programme. Soccability is about allowing children with additional needs to be able to play sport and to develop social interaction.

We are honoured to receive this external validation of an initiative that is embedded in the values of Witham Town Football Club. We are proud to be rooted in the community and we offer football participation to all, irrespective of age and ability. The popularity of Soccability at Witham is a manifestation of how football activities can meet societal needs through the commitment of people inside a football club, the participation of children and parents and the support of external sponsors. Football is not all about winning and losing. Every child who takes part in Soccability is a winner."

Congratulations to all at the club.
