Field clinch the final play off spot- four minutes into added time

A big night for Westfield on home win Tuesday- Baggies and Villains are also victorious

Fans of Raynes Park Vale had their fingers crossed for an away win and Westfield (pictured) hosted Northwood last night- and until ten minutes from time their prayers looked to be being answered, but a late comeback for the hosts clinched that top five spot and a place at the end of season party.

After a goalless first half the Woods got their noses in front on sixty five minutes, Harry McCorkell heading home his first Woods goal after being the first to react to a corner- and they held that lead until ten minutes from time. Jordan Alves already had thirteen goals for the season and it looked for much of the match as if that would be unlucky, but he managed the fourteenth ten minutes from time, a deflected effort but they all count! That goal would have given Field a three point lead going into the last day of the campaign, but four minutes into added time Alves ensured that lead became insurmountable, a shot from the right hand side of the box beating Andrew McCorkell and beginning the celebrations around Woking Park. That’s six wins in a row for Field.

At this point the order of the play off fixtures remains uncertain, even if the participants are confirmed. It appears that Marlow will finish second- it would need a rather unprecedented result for Leatherhead to make up not only a three point deficit but a nineteen goal deficit too- but third, fourth and fifth are still up for grabs. Southall, in fourth, are three points behind the Tanners with an identical goal difference, whilst Westfield are level on points with the All but have an eight goal deficit. Saturday sees Leatherhead welcome Hartley Wintney, Southall welcome Chipstead- who must win to have any chance of survival- and Westfield play host to already relegated Corinthian-Casuals.

Hanworth Villa have had a strong end to the season, and secured seventh place with victory over relegated Corinthian-Casuals. The Villains had lost only one of their previous nine, and now that’s one from ten- but they had to come from behind. Casuals went ahead four minutes before the break, Andrew Herring with the opener, but Ben Merson’s first goal of the season saw the hosts level just after the break. The winner arrived only eight minutes from time, and it went to Kyen Nicholas, who took his total for the season to an impressive twenty three.

Finally, Badshot Lea have had a hectic April, and played their seventh match of the month- sixth in a row at home- as Uxbridge came to call. The Baggies had lost their previous four, and fatigue is likely to have been a big factor, but they completed their penultimate match of the season with three comfortable points against Uxbridge. Kareem Akinnibi was the star of the night, scoring on twenty seven and seventy one minutes to earn his side three points and lift them into the top ten.
