Chris Taylor is the new man in the dugout at Basildon United

Basildon United wasted no time in appointing a successor to Ajay Ashanike, yesterday appointing former Witham Town boss Chris Taylor.

Chris took over at Witham on a caretaker basis in November 2021, and remained in charge until deciding to depart in the last summer, after keeping his side in Pitching In Isthmian North by leading them to a sixteenth place finish, seven points above the relegation play off zone.

Chris originally joined Witham as a player for the 2019-20 season. A midfielder, he previously played for Romford- more than one hundred and fifty times- as well as Thurrock, Tilbury, Waltham Forest and Barkingside.
