Friday Night Football

By Ian Townsend

We’re off to Witham Town this evening. Maldon & Tiptree are the visitors

Witham Town, fresh from winning our Performance of the Month Award, will be full of confidence as Maldon & Tiptree head to the Simarco Stadium this evening. Town were named earlier this week as winners of our Performance of the Month Award for last week’s eight-nil thrashing of Stowmarket Town, although they almost got it for their endeavours the previous weekend, a three-two win over promotion-chasing Felixstowe and Walton United. Their confidence will only be increased by the fact they have already defeated the Jammers this season, a three-nil FA Trophy win on September 9th.

The Jammers, however, will point out that the side beaten on September 9th was in a rather different place than their current eleven. The last six matches in all competitions have seen them go unbeaten, and indeed they’ve only one defeat from their last nine- a run which has seen them climb the table sharply. Another win would see them end up only a point behind the top five.

Witham have won the last two meetings between the sides- and in matches this decade are three-two ahead.
