Friday Night Football!

By Ian Townsend

Our action comes from White Hart Lane, where New Salamis welcome Ipswich Wanderers

It's Friday, so leap into the weekend this evening by taking a trip down White Hart Lane to Coles Park, where New Salamis take on Ipswich Wanderers in Pitching In Isthmian North. The pitch is 3G, so unless the area around Wood Green suffers an infestation of plastic-eating termites, this one should definitely be on!

It's fourteenth v seventeenth, and there are seven points between the sides, as both continue to search for the consistency which has eluded them for much of the campaign. The Salamina have delivered some fine performances mixed with a similar sized collection of the opposite, as four wins, two draws and four defeats from their last ten matches demonstrates. You never seem to know exactly what you're going to get from the North Londoners, but whatever it is, it tends to be entertaining!

Wanderers have lost their last five matches at home so might be rather pleased to be taking a trip, as they've only one defeat from their last four on the road. Draws against Witham and Stowmarket Towns in their last two might not look to be a particularly big turnaround in form, but prior to those matches they'd lost seven of eight- only a one-nil win at Basildon United last month standing out, that being their only victory since November 4th. They find themselves thirteen points above the drop zone, and although their have been some highlights this season- wins over Lowestoft Town and Bury Town perhaps the most memorable- they'll be hoping to finally get back to winning ways.

One of Wanderers victories this season did come against tonight's opponents- a two-nil victory at the end of October- so there's a chance for a rare double, and a chance for some North London revenge for the hosts.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM.
