Friday Night pre-season round up

By Ian Townsend

We had Billericay Town, Erith & Belvedere, Redbridge and Stowmarket Town in an action last night. Here's what happened.

Pre-season isn't an exact science when it comes to round ups, as we have to rely almost entirely on social media- but here's what we think happened as four of our sides took to the field last night.

Billericay Town welcomed Leyton Orient to New Lodge, and one thousand, six hundred and forty two spectators arrived to cheer the sides on. Sadly neither team could deliver a goal, but a good time was had by all.

A crowd of six hundred and four arrived to watch Erith & Belvedere take on Punjab United, and the Deres, pictured courtesy of the club, took the Martin Tarrant Trophy courtesy of a two-one win. Sam Skeffington and Rob Strachan got the hosts goals in the first half, and a late United goal was no more than a consolation.

Redbridge were on the road to take on Tilbury, who sadly lost their Pitching In isthmian North place at the end of last season. The match finished one-one, both goals coming in the first half. We don't know who scored for the Motormen, but Harry Hope equalised for the Dockers from the spot.

Finally, Walsham hosted Stowmarket Town and a five goal thriller. Canfer put Stow ahead in the first half only for the hosts to quickly level, but after the break Morley restored the visitors lead. A deflected effort looked to have earned Walsham a draw, but right at the death Simmons got a winner.
