New ground naming deal sees Woodstock Park, home of Sittingbourne, renamed 'The Roman Stadium'

Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion hopefuls Sittingbourne have been leaving opposition defences in ruins for much of this season- but from here onwards those will be Roman ruins, given Woodstock Park has been renamed 'The Roman Stadium' (sorry, and yes, we are here all week!).

Vice Chairman Andrew Marjeram explained:

‘I am delighted to say we have secured a sponsorship deal for our stadium with the local business Roman Construction and Groundworks for the remainder of the season. Operating in the South East region, the company specialise in an array of Groundworks services from building sites to residential properties. The stadium will be called “The Roman Stadium.

It is great to see a local business thriving and giving back to the club. They really support our efforts in the community and we really appreciate owner Drew Kelly’s sponsorship. What is even more amazing is that Drew Kelly’s wife Rebekah Kelly is actually the daughter of the legend Iain Blake – which of course is where the name of our famous ‘Blakey’s shed' comes from- which really adds to the romance of the deal. '

Drew Kelly , Managing Director at Roman Construction & Groundworks added:

‘It's an absolute privilege to be the Stadium sponsor of Sittingbourne FC. Having grown up in the Sittingbourne area and with my father-in-law being the man behind Blakey's Garden Shed, I understand the importance of this club to its fans and the town. Roman Construction & Groundworks believes in giving something back to our local community. The town's football club is an integral part of Sports & Leisure in Sittingbourne and we are delighted to support them in this way. It is great to have Roman Construction and Groundworks on board with the club.'

The Brickies will be away from home at Lancing at the weekend, but will be roman around their own patch again next Tuesday night, as they welcome Hythe Town.
