From Moatsider to Urchin

Hornchurch bring in Merstham defender

What a difference two weeks make. A fortnight ago Merstham full back/winger Ellis Brown was lining up for his side in a two-all draw with Hornchurch, but yesterday he was wearing a number two shirt of a different colour, as he made his debut for the Urchins as they defeated Haringey Borough.

Brown had made thirty four appearances for the Moatsiders this season, scoring four goals- including one against his new employers on the opening day. He started his career with the Charlton Athletic Academy, before signing for Southend United, and has also played for VCD Athletic, Thurrock, Dartford, Phoenix Sports and Thamesmead Town.

He joined Merstham after spending last season with Waltham Abbey, where he was player of the year.
