Golds get new stand go-ahead

Fundraising continues, but Littlehampton Town will begin to build their new stand as soon as the season ends

Littlehampton Town have spend some months fundraising in an attempt to replace their old wooden stand, which is more than a century old. The plan was to build a steel structure which will improve views, be much more comfortable and be easier to maintain, as well as incorporating seating for wheelchair users giving better views of the pitch than the current disabled area.

On Saturday the club announced that, following the receipt of a grant from the Football Foundation Premier League Stadium Fund, they will be starting electrical work for a new stand in March, knocking the old one down at the end of the season, building a new stand during June and- all things being equal- be ready to open the new structure at a pre-season friendly during July.

Fundraising efforts still continue- a lifetime plaque can be purchased for £75 for which you can have your name and message on the front of the new main stand, and a fundraising gig will be held next weekend at the White Hart public house- but the club will soon have a facility to be proud of.

The new stand will have one hundred and fifty four seats.
