Hair-raising challenge for bakers!

With the fifth series of The Great British Bake Off pulling in millions of viewers again, Ryman South Three Bridges are hoping the hit cooking show can boost a charity fund-raising campaign for the sick brother of one of their players.

Former Charlton Athletic, Brighton, Horsham, Eastbourne Town, Crawley Down Gatwick and Lewes midfielder Tom Howard-Bold is aiming to raise £10,000 towards his 13-year-old brother Michael's fundraising campaign to buy medical equipment while he fights a rare and aggressive cancer.

Pictured with his brave younger sibling, the 22-year-old and eight friends - including Bridges players Kieron Thorp, Simon Wormull, Ben Godfrey and John Lansdale - are setting off on a 400 mile cycle from Everton's Goodison Park on Sunday 11 December to arrive back in time for the club's game with Crawley Town at Jubilee Field the following Saturday.

Three Bridges secretary Lorraine Bonner is urging fans to get baking or go on a spending spree at the 'Great Bridges Bake Off' on Saturday 15 October to save the players from an unthinkable forfeit for a modern footballer if they don't reach the £10K target, having their heads shaved!

Bridges are hosting Hythe Town next weekend and she said: "If the £10,000 is not raised, then the cyclists will forfeit their hair which, for those that know them, is a very big deal for a few of them!"

Fans who'd like to support the campaign but can't be there can find out more information and donate online at: http://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/thomas-howard-bold.
