Wednesday's Velocity Cup Final was Hashtag United's three hundredth match since their formation

We'd like to send some belated congratulations to Hashtag United, as it has come to light that Wednesday's Velocity Cup Final was their three hundredth competitive match since their formation.

The Tags were formed in 2018, and entered the Essex Senior League Division One South at the start of the 2018-19 campaign, cantering to the title and losing only four matches during the entire campaign. The followed that by taking the top Division by storm, and were in second place, a point behind leaders Saffron Walden Town with three games in hand, when the pandemic brought the 2019-20 campaign to a premature halt. They were two points clear at the top when the 20-21 season was also abandoned, and were promoted to the Pitching In Isthmian League on a points per game basis, finishing eighth in their first North Division season.

Last season, as you will recall, the Tags charged to the title, finishing the campaign seven points clear of second place AFC Sudbury and remaining unbeaten at home all season, and, of course, this season has seen them adapt very well to life at Step Three, with a comfortable mid table finish and a Cup Final appearance- and a collection of notable victories. We suspect their double over Billericay Town will be a highlight!

Congratulations to the Tags on an incredibly successful three hundred matches- and six remarkably successful seasons. Good luck on your move to Aveley FC next season.
