Hastings get planning boost

New ground complex gets go ahead from local planners

It's less than three months since it seemed that Hastings United's hopes of moving away from Pilot Field to a new ground had been dashed, but yesterday the club announced a change of heart by local planners.

In a statement on the club website, they explained:

"On Wednesday 1st June 2022, both planning applications for the new stadium including extensive sporting facilities at Tilekiln Playing Fields and the enabling housing development at The Pilot Field were approved.

Given the unanimous vote for the Tilekiln project, this shows huge support for new investment and improved sports/recreation offering to the community.

Hastings United Football Club would like to put on record our thanks to the Planning Committee for taking into consideration the positive benefits of both sites for our Town and now invite the Council to fully engage with us in an effort to deliver this worthy scheme."

That seems a three hundred and sixty degree turn from the position back in March, but many congratulations to the club at this positive news.
