Hastings try a new route to success

United to put their faith in youth

Hastings United scored one hundred and twenty eight league goals last season- more than any other side in the top eight levels of English football- and it still wasn't enough to earn them promotion from our South Division. The club have now decided that patience is the primary virtue, and have announced that their policy of investing heavily to gain promotion is over- and instead that they are going to look to youth to get them back into the Premier Division they last graced in 2013.

Manager Chris Agutter is happy with the news. In an article on the clubs website- link below- he states;"the Club's decision to 'build' and develop a team over the course of the next 6 months with a view to kicking off next season with a settled, well oiled unit makes perfect football sense." Fan views on the Unofficial Supporters Forum are mixed to say the least, and there is concern that such a statement will turn off 'floating' supporters, but only time will tell whether the club are making the correct decision. They currently sit in seventeenth place, twelve points off the playoff positions, and travel to bottom placed Shoreham for a Sussex coast derby match on Saturday.

The statement can be read here.
