Third place for the Bees after a late winner

Basildon United have been magnificent of late, and welcomed Gorleston from the lofty heights of third place. The Bees were on a seven match unbeaten run in League and Cup, only Grays Athletic taking as much as a point, and scored six at Bury Town in midweek, whilst Gorleston started the weekend in tenth place, but had won their previous two matches without conceding a goal.

The visiting Greens made the breakthrough soon after the start of the second half, Ryan Curtis with the opening goal, but they also contributed the second significant statistic of the afternoon, a red card for Jacek Zielonka on the hour. The ten men held out for six minutes, Kyle Jude with the equaliser, and the Bees got a winner right at the end, Samir Ali taking them to within a point of second place Felixstowe.
