Highlights: Double Wands

By Ian Townsend

A three-nil win follows a three-nil win for Cray Wanderers

Kingstonian welcomed Cray Wanderers to Imperial Fields, both sides in need of points. The K’s had only one victory from their league campaign so far, and that as far back as August 19th, but they were ahead midway through the first half, Rio Campbell with the goal. Andy Somo has been a shining star in a dull start to the season for the hosts, and he got his sixth of the season to make it two-nil soon after the hour- and with seventeen minutes to go Darnell Goather-Braithwaite made it three-nil and three valuable points for the K’s, who climb out of the bottom four at the expense of their visitors.

Concord Rangers would have been buoyed by their first win of the season last Saturday, a victory which moved them off the bottom of the table- but their honeymoon period was brief as Cray Wanderers came to call. Wands have had an unexpectedly poor start to the campaign, but normal service was resumed last night as they coasted to victory. George Porter opened the scoring for the visitors on fourteen minutes, and just before half time Cameron Black made it two. If the outcome was still in any doubt, that doubt ended sixteen minutes from time when Anthony Cook made it three-nil from the spot.
