A youthful set of Rams fall to defeat against the Nuts and Bolts

In the Velocity Cup we had a Kentish derby between two of the sides most fancied for Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion, Ramsgate and Ashford United- and it delivered all the goals that our first match didn't. The Rams had a collection of young debutants, whilst the Nuts and Bolts also gave a first match of the season to a number of players, and perhaps the six goals that followed said a great deal about the strength in depth at both clubs. Vance Bola's first of the season put Ashford ahead on twenty seven minutes, but the young Rams soon hit back, an own goal and a goal from Wes Hennessey putting them ahead at the break. Seven minutes into the second half Noah Carney made it two-two, and the visitors then put themselves in the driving seat, Anthony Edgar putting them ahead with fifteen minutes to go. Just before the end Kymani Thomas marked his first United appearance after his signing last week with the sixth goal of the evening, making it four-two and sending United through to the Third Round.
