Hillians behind new TV show!

Ryman Premier Burgess Hill Town have played a key role in helping to create a new television comedy series on Sky about Non-League football!

Thanks to the Hillians, Rovers which starts next week on Sky 1, should be packed full of gags and tales reflecting real life at the nation's semi-professional clubs.

Proud officials at the Sussex club have been working with comedians Joe Wilkinson from the BAFTA award winning Him and Her, and David Earl, who starred in Ricky Gervais’ comedy Derek, to create the new show set in the bar of a Non-League club.

Produced by Jellylegs Productions, the comedy focuses on the fans and staff of fictional club Redbridge Rovers FC and their unstinting support through thick and thin.

Hillians media manager Dave Bradbury, pictured with the comedy duo, said Earl, left, and Wilkinson, right, came down to the Green Elephants Stadium towards the end of 2015 season as they were storming to the Ryman South title to do their research and have been on the phone ever since.

Bradbury said: “They came down to watch a game and I got chatting to them. They liked the set up and came to four or five more games. They were very complementary of the football club and I think they enjoyed it.”

“The majority of it is set around the bar so it is not to do with the players, it is more about the fans and was good fun. I can’t take the credit as I didn’t write it but it is some more positive coverage for the football club!"
