Hillians win again- and it's a Sussex one-two

By Ian Townsend

Two Sussex sides ran out winners in the Pitching In Isthmian South East last night, as both Burgess Hill Town and East Grinstead Town triumphed on the road.

Burgess Hill Town last night closed to within five points of the top five with yet another victory- and damaged the promotion hopes of their hosts, Sittingbourne, in the process.

The Hillians, who defeated leaders Hastings United at the weekend, have been irresistible against our top five in recent week. They also defeated Ashford United and Cray Valley PM, whilst drawing with Haywards Heath Town, and had only one defeat from seven as they travelled to Woodstock Park. That record now stretches to one defeat in eight, as Martyn Box scored for the second successive match- the match-winner in both- to earn another three points, his goal coming on the half hour.

The result sees the Hillians up to eighth, a point ahead of last night's hosts.

East Grinstead Town have also found form, and moved up to thirteenth with victory at bottom placed Phoenix Sports. Omar Folkes opened the scoring for the travelling Wasps midway through the first half, Miles Cornwell doubled the advantage twenty minutes from time, and although Lewis Clark got one back for the hosts in the very last minute there wasn't time for an equaliser.

That's seven matches unbeaten for Town- and another defeat for Sports, seemingly threatening their revival- and survival hopes.
