Home is where the ball is

AFC Sudbury manager David Batch insists he is happy to keep playing away in Ryman North.

Batch's Yellows are nearly half-way through a run of eight consecutive away games and won't return to the MEL Group Stadium until the end of the November, but the manager is undaunted after their recent record on the road.

Having already made three trips of the sequence, including a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over high-flying Ryman South outfit Hastings United in the FA Trophy's Second Qualifying Round, Tilbury are next up in the league on Tuesday night.

The Suds drew 0-0 away at Chatham on Saturday and have won six of their 10 away games so far this season, leaving Batch unfazed by the prospect of another away day.

Batch, pictured, said: "I don’t think it will be a major issue to us in all honesty. Of course I'd prefer to be at home, but over the course of the season you have to win home and away and so in that respect it shouldn't make too much difference.

"We've been quite strong away from home and so hopefully we can carry that on in the coming weeks. The pressure may also be off as well because it is usually always on the home sides."
