Invicta's unbeaten record comes crashing down around their ears

Carshalton thrash Folkestone Invicta to go eighth

We all knew that Folkestone Invicta couldn't remain unbeaten for an entire season, but nobody expected that their unbeaten run would come to an end in such startling fashion. A strong Invicta side travelled to Colston Avenue last night and left with their tails firmly between their legs after a five goal hammering at the hands of hosts Carshalton Athletic.

Athletic had only lost one of their previous six, and put six goals past Brightlingsea Regent at the weekend, but Regent are on a terrible run whilst Invicta have looked almost invincible so the result is still a shock, and will undoubtedly be a strong contender for November's Performance of the Month prize.

Lewis White got the hosts on the right track after fifteen minutes with his sixth of the campaign, and eight minutes later Luke Read made it two. Danny Bassett got in on the act just before the break to get his fifth of the campaign, and eleven minutes after half time he had caught up with teammate White as the Robins went four up. Daniel Hector rounded things off with number five just before the end. Invicta remain third, whilst the Robins are four points behind them in eighth.
