Is it title time for Chertsey Town?

Chertsey Town welcome Ascot United to Alwyns Lane knowing that victory will guarantee them the title- a title which they very much deserve after going unbeaten since mid September. The Curfews also know that if they win their three remaining matches they’ll end the season with one hundred points, and we suspect they’ll want to do that too! The travelling Yellas, comfortable in mid table, will want to cast themselves in the role of party poopers, and will want revenge after a goal five minutes into added time at the end of the match saw them lose at the Racecourse Ground just before Christmas.

Second place Marlow welcome sixth place Westfield in a match particularly critical for the visitors. With five wins from six, victory for the hosts would virtually guarantee a top three finish, whilst Westfield start the weekend three points behind fifth place Southall with a game in hand. The visitors have already defeated Marlow in League and FA Trophy this season- can they make it a hat trick, or will their hosts smell revenge?

Fourth place Raynes Park Vale are four points clear of sixth place Westfield and are on their own patch, Hartley Wintney their visitors. Vale are six unbeaten- five victories- whilst their visitors have taken only two points from their last five matches. The match between them on the Saturday before Christmas ended as a one-one draw.

Fifth place Southall travel to Uxbridge, the All looking behind them at sixth place Westfield and ahead of them at fourth place Raynes Park Vale, with a three point gap between them and the former and a one point gap between them and the latter. The upshot of that is that a positive result is rather crucial, but although Uxbridge have nothing to play for but pride they’ve shown plenty of that in recent weeks, with only one defeat- and five wins- from their last seven. They’ve also won their last five at Honeycroft, whilst Southall have won only one of their last six on the road.

Binfield have closed to within four points of safety with a run of three wins from their last four, and head to the Channel Islands to take on the side seven points and three places ahead of them, Guernsey. Normally you’d think that seven points would be enough of a margin to almost guarantee safety, but the Green Lions have hit the panic button in a big way and have lost their last six matches, so marking them safe might be rather premature. At the Iconic Stadium in December Guernsey came from behind to win two-one, but this Moles side looks an awful lot better than that one did!

Chipstead will be looking nervously over their shoulders at Binfield, the Moles only four points behind now with two games in hand. The Chips need to do themselves a favour by stringing together some positive results, and victory at Hartley Wintney last weekend will have helped, but that was only their second win in ten and their opponents this weekend, Hanworth Villa, have been in decent form with only two defeats from ten and are unlikely to roll over. Villa defeated the Chips three-one in December.

Ashford Town are five points clear of danger having played a game more than second bottom Binfield- and they welcome bottom side Corinthian-Casuals to the Robert Parker Stadium hoping to make that gap a little bigger. The Tangerines picked up three crucial points at Binfield last weekend, their third win in ten, whilst Casuals were also victorious last time out, against Northwood, but are eleven points from safety with five matches left- and will be aware that if they lose and other results go against them they could be confirmed as relegated.

Met Police are eight points clear of the bottom two having played a game more than second bottom Binfield. The boys in Blue welcome Thatcham Town to Imber Court having gone eight matches without a victory and still a little worried about their safety, whilst the Kingfishers have hit a bit of a slump with only two wins from ten but are as safe as houses- and will still be wondering how they let a four-one half time lead against Marlow slip to a five-four defeat last weekend.

Badshot Lea welcome Sutton Common Rovers, the Baggies looking to bounce back from conceding five goals to Binfield on Thursday whilst Rovers know that three more points will all but guarantee their safety, whilst Northwood, who welcome seventh place South Park Reigate, are also three points from guaranteed survival.
