It’s a new manager win bonanza!

By Ian Townsend

Lancing and Haywards Heath Town are under new management- and both triumphed- whilst the Rams extended their lead at the top, but got only one point

Ramsgate started the weekend two points clear at the top, and it was three by the end of yesterday’s match with Chichester City, although neither side managed a goal. They did get to play under a beautiful red sky, however- image courtesy of Stuart Fuller.

Lancing, under new boss Dean Cox, welcomed sixth place Ashford United to Culver Road. The Lancers had gone six games without a win, and it looked as if that run was going to increase to seven when Danny Parish and Gary Lockyer put the Nuts and Bolts two goals up, but any attempt to write off the home side turned out to be extremely premature. Kane Louis quickly got a goal back, but as the match moved into its last seven minutes the points were still heading to Kent. At this point Reece Hallard, on as a sub on the hour, took control. First he brought his side level and then, right at the end, he went one better- delighting his new boss and the home crowd. Lancing climb to fifteenth, whilst United remain sixth- but have now played two games more than the four sides immediately above them.

Haywards Heath Town, under new managerial duo Dale Hurley and Alex Walsh, start the day third from bottom- but they started their match at Sheppey United at top speed, Dean Gunner and Ibrahim Jalloh putting them two up within twenty minutes. Jake Embury immediately got one back for the Ites, only for Tom Cadman to go up the other end and make it three-one- but again the hosts narrowed the gap, Josh Wisson making it two-three.

The next goal was crucial, and it went to the visitors, Alex Laing making it four-two and sealing three critical Heath points- which lift them out of the bottom four.
