It’s fifty one points played for, and forty six earned for the Robins after yet another win

By Ian Townsend

The Curfews go second, and there are wins for the Tangerines, the Terrors and the Kingfishers. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up.

Bracknell Town, almost out of sight at the top of the table, looked as if they’d have a more difficult task that usual as they hosted in-form Hanwell Town- but they took only nine minutes to get their noses in front, Seb Bowerman continuing his hot streak by finding the net in his fifth consecutive match for his tenth of the season. An own goal doubled their advantage ten minutes before the break, and another from Bowerman right at the end- following a red card for the Geordies Sam Saunders- made it three, stretching their lead at the top to twelve points and their winning run to ten.

Chertsey Town got the first goal of our South Central afternoon in their derby match against Staines Town. It went to Bryan Taylor, his fourth of the campaign, and the same player made it two-nil nine minutes before the break. There looked no way back for the Swans after Andrew Crossley made it three just after the restart, but Reece Cave made a fight of it, scoring from the spot on fifty eight minutes. That was that, however, and the Curfews climb to second- and perhaps, if they can keep winning, Bracknell’s twelve point lead could look more vulnerable given the Curfews have two games in hand. Staines stay bottom.

Ashford Town (Middx) and Chalfont St Peter couldn’t be separated for eighty five minutes, but Aaron McLeish-White has been in top form for the Tangerines, scoring in his last four games, and that run increased to five when he scored with five minutes to go. He then got another three minutes later, turning a goalless draw into a two-nil victory. That’s eleven for the season- in fifteen matches- for the Town number nine.

Northwood and Thatcham Town couldn’t be separated for eighty one minutes, but then Josh Edwards popped up to score for the Kingfishers and send them up to twelfth.

Tooting & Mitcham United hosted Westfield in a mid table battle, and the Terrors took the lead on twenty six minutes, Michael Dixon scoring for the second time this season. That turned out to be the only goal of the game, and the hosts end the weekend in eleventh- eleven, coincidentally, is the number of points they are behind the top five.
