It's Gulls v Blues!

The Pitching In Isthmian North Division Play Off Final will feature Canvey and Brentwood, after late drama earns home victories last night

The nearly two thousand people who watched on at Canvey Island and Brentwood Town last night witnessed a great deal of late drama, after the home sides struck at the death to seal their places in Friday evenings Final.

Canvey Island welcomed Felixstowe and Walton United, and weren't very welcoming when Matthew Price headed them in front after just two minutes, converting a cross from Connor Hubble. That was Price's thirty first goal of the season in all competitions, and it gave the Gulls a lead they held on to until the sixty fifth minute, when Sam Nunn headed home a corner fired in by Andre Hasanally to equalise for the Seasiders.

It looked as if we were heading to extra time, when, right at the end, the home fans and neutrals amongst the one thousand and fifty nine watching on were treated to the Evans Kouassi show. The Gulls number eleven has been magnificent all season- indeed, he's magnificent every season- and his shot from the left was too much for Callum Robinson and found its way into the net. Four minutes to go, and home advantage had finally paid off.

Into added time with the visitors looking for an equaliser, and it was Kouassi again who made sure of victory, grabbing his thirty first goal of the season to make it three-one, levelling with his team mate at the same time. That's one hundred and three league goals for the Gulls this season.

Canvey will welcome Brentwood Town to Park Lane on Friday night, the Blues overcoming the challenge of Stowmarket Town for the second time in four days to earn their place in the final. The Blues took the lead midway through the first half, Tom Richardson adding to the thirty six goals he'd already scored this season with a thirty seventh. The hosts couldn't increase that lead, and then four minutes from time Craig Parker popped up to surely take Stow into extra time; but no! Deep into added time Ashley Nzala popped up to head home and send the home fans amongst the eight hundred and ninety seven watching on into rapture.

Town lost four-two to the Gulls when they travelled to Park Lane in September, but defeated them two-nil when they welcomed them to the Arena in January- so we go into this one with a four-four aggregate score. Let's hope we get plenty more goals on Friday, and a deserved winner!

Commiserations to the Seasiders and Stow, who have had magnificent seasons of their own. We look forward to seeing you challenge again next season.
