It's Swans v Villa

By Ian Townsend

At the end of their first season since promotion, either Walton & Hersham or Hanworth Villa will make it two promotions in a row

Walton & Hersham put Saturday's disappointment behind them to triumph in the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Play Off Semi-Final last night, but they had to work hard to inflict defeat on Northwood for the fourth time this season. The Swans, who were a moment from the title before a late, late Thatcham Town equaliser on Saturday, fell behind early on, a Northwood break seeing Josh Helmore fire into the bottom corner- but they were level just before the half hour, Mitchell Gough heading home a corner. The winner came eight minutes before the end, a penalty awarded and Harry Mills defying the pressure to safely tuck it away.

Commiserations to the Woods, who have had a magnificent campaign, much of it spent looking down at everyone else.

The visitors to the Sports Hub for Sunday's Play Off Final will be Hanworth Villa, promoted- like the Swans- from the Combined Counties League last season, although the two were in separate Divisions. Villa travelled to Marlow last night, and although the Blues had done the double over their visitors they couldn't take a third victory, and ended the match with nine men. The Villains took the lead just after the half hour, Sam Merson converting a penalty, but four minutes after the restart Marlow levelled through Junaid Bell. Sadly for the hosts, thirty five minutes later Bell was dismissed, and right at the end the visitors took the prize, George Wells delivering a winner.

Dawid Rogalski was also dismissed for the hosts in the closing stages.

Commiserations to Marlow, who miss out despite only the top two having a better defensive record this season, Incidentally, their success wasn't just built on their fine defence- only Basingstoke, Walton and Chertsey scored more goals.

The Final will take place at Walton & Hersham's Sports Hub on Sunday afternoon, with a 3PM kick off.
