Jammers defeat the leaders...

...whilst the Rovers revival continues. It's our Pitching In Isthmian North Round up.

Maldon & Tiptree may not have had the season we expected from them, but they were back to something like their best last night- and continued their fine recent record against our leaders, Canvey Island. The Jammers had won their three previous matches against the Gulls, scoring nine goals in the process, and added two more last night as they dented the visitors title chances.

Bryan Ifeanyi gave the hosts the lead midway through the first half, and they made it two just after the break, Bradley McClenaghan doubling their advantage. The Gulls have been very good at mounting comebacks of late, and got this one underway when Matthew Price halved the arrears with fourteen minutes remaining, but on this occasion the recovery couldn't be completed and the hosts held on for all three points.

The Jammers are eleventh, seven points off a top five spot, whilst Canvey remain at the top- but their game in hand over second place Aveley is now gone, and, perhaps worse, Stowmarket Town are only two points behind with a game in hand all of their own.

Great Wakering Rovers travelled to a side just above them in the table, Basildon United- and by full time had changed those positions with a comprehensive three-nil win. The opening goal came midway through the first half, and it went to Darnell Mavanga-Kithambo, and it was two-nil just before the break as Alex Clark doubled the advantage. Despite the Bees best efforts it was three-nil with six minutes remaining, Louie Clark completing the victory for the visitors.
