Cray Wanderers announce the surprise departure of their player-manager

Cray Wanderers have announced that manager Danny Kedwell has left the club "by mutual consent." In a very short statement, the club thanked their now former manager for his hard work and commitment, wished him all the best for the future, and invited applications to be his replacement to be sent to craywanderersfc@gmail.com.

Kedwell himself responded on social media, stating:

'My time at @OfficialWands has come to the end. Gutted it's come this- had to build a whole squad from scratch and I'm proud of that. I'd like to thank all my staff from the beginning to the end. I've learned a lot in a very difficult start to managing and thank Cray for the opportunity.'

Danny took over at Wands in the summer, and leaves them twenty first in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division. The highlight of his tenure will undoubtedly be the FA Trophy win over Ebbsfleet United last month, and perhaps their first two matches under him, when they defeated both Lewes and Hornchurch.

He's pictured on his arrival, with Chair Gary Hillman.
