K's and Sports step up

By Ian Townsend

Kingstonian and Bedfont Sports are our Wednesday winners

Kingstonian climbed back up to third place in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier last night, with a narrow victory over Horsham.

The K's, who had taken only one point from their previous three matches, must have known they'd have a difficult evening. This was the third time they'd played the Hornets this season, the first two in the cup seeing Horsham eventually triumph after a replay. After a goalless first half at King George's Field, the two were finally separated by a goal for the returning Elliott Buchanan in the sixty eighth minute- and that was that. There was no way back for the visitors, who ended the night in twenty first place.

In the South Central Division, Bedfont Sports continued their magnificent season by hammering Thatcham Town. The first goal, for Darryl Sanders eight minutes before the break, was somewhat against the run of play, but the second half was very much a one way street as an own goal, Eze Bademosi and Lewis Flatman made it two, three and four nil to the hosts.

Sports are seventh in the table, six points behind leaders Uxbridge but with two games in hand.

Manager Paul Johnson was presented with the Pitching In Performance of the Month Award for September, in recognition of Sports FA Cup win at Dulwich Hamlet. Our headline image shows him receiving the trophy from our chairman, Nick Robinson.
