Ware mourn the passing of Margaret, a club stalwart

Ware FC have announced the sad passing of Margaret Nash. Normally at this point we'd write a small tribute, but Stephen King's tribute from the club website does the job far better than we could, so we reproduce it below:

'Those working behind the scenes at the club are not normally noticed by the general public but her passing inevitably leaves a gap that will be hard to fill.

Margaret was, amongst other things, responsible for looking after visiting officials in the boardroom before and after matches. Her supply of cakes and other goodies was always a high point and a definite consolation to those on the losing side.

Margaret's role at the club extended to acting as secretary to management committee meetings and inevitably to keeping the outcome of those meetings in good order.

Margaret was no mere cypher. A keen sportswoman herself, she always had an opinion on the game and players, some of whom were not spared from criticism. Talking over a game with her was entertaining, instructive and sometimes challenging.

She will be sadly missed at the club.'

The deepest sympathies of all at the Isthmian League go out to Margaret's family and friends, and to all at Wodson Park.
