McMahon is the new Chief Oysterboy

Former Thamesmead and VCD manager Keith takes over at Whitstable Town

Whitstable Town last night announced that their new manager is Keith McMahon. Keith replaces Lloyd Blackman, who stepped away almost two weeks ago.

Keith spent five years- from May 2015 to June 2020- in charge at VCD Athletic, where he had replaced the now-Lewes boss Tony Russell after his departure to manage Cray Wanderers. Athletic ended the incomplete 2019-20 season in sixth place in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division.

Prior to his time at Oakwood he managed Thamesmead Town, and indeed was a big part of the club for eleven years, steering them to promotion from the Kent League and then to another promotion to our Premier Division, his side winning a famous penalty shootout over Maldon & Tiptree in the 2012-13 North Division Playoff Final.

The Oysterboys haven't had the best of starts to the campaign and are still looking for their first League victory. Keith's first match in charge couldn't be more difficult, as they travel to face title favourites Hastings United next Tuesday.
