Millers shock as striker George goes Blue

Seven goal Sykes heads to Brentwood

Aveley have announced the departure of striker George Sykes, who has joined Brentwood Town.

Sykes, who has scored his seven goals in only twelve appearances this season, got what seems to have been his last goal for the Millers in the three-nil win over Beaconsfield Town in the FA Trophy at the end of October. The striker, who joined the club last season and scored on his debut against East Grinstead Town at the start of that famous run to the FA Trophy Quarter Finals, managed seventeen goals last season from only twenty eight games.

Prior to his time at Parkside, he turned out for Barnet, Farnborough, Bishop's Stortford, St Albans City, Canvey Island, Maldon & Tiptree and Tilbury.

Millers CEO Craig Johnson, speaking to the club website, stated:

"Obviously it is extremely disappointing to lose a player like George, especially to a fellow division club.

Brentwood have made him a financial offer that he felt he simply could not turn down."
