More frustration for Wanderers

Cray ground application delayed once more

Cray Wanderers have been advised that the planning application hearing for their new ground has been postponed. The hearing, which was due to be held on 18th January, is now not likely to take place until 13th March- an almost two month delay which risks putting the entire project in jeopardy, as the land option agreement the Club have times-out at the end of the year. It seems that the London Borough of Bromley have had to remove the application temporarily from their schedule as they are still awaiting a report from the Greater London Authority (GLA)- a report which is a critical part of the process.

Gary Hillman, Chairman of Cray Wanderers FC, stated, “We are disappointed and frustrated by the delay however we are convinced Bromley Council and the London Mayor will view the further enhanced community and environmental merits of our scheme in March- and give our loyal supporters the home they deserve.

I have written to the Mayor today to state the urgency of the matter and the importance of receiving the delayed Stage 1 report as soon as possible.”

Hundreds of the clubs fans were planning to attend the Committee hearing to show their support, and the council have already received more than 1500 letters in favour of the scheme, which would see a new ground built off the A20 Sidcup bypass.
