Murphy is the boss in E17

Walthamstow name Vinny Murphy as their new boss

Walthamstow have confirmed that Vinny Murphy has been appointed as their new manager.

Vinny returned to the club in November as Nicky Ironton's Assistant, and had hardly unpacked his bags before he was covering the top job after Ironton's departure on December 3rd. He has also coached at Grays Athletic.

He had two spells with the club as a player, and was named Players Player of the season during 2018-19. That was unsurprising- he rejoined the club in December 2018, played nineteen times, and his side lost once and kept eleven clean sheets!

He has also played for Redbridge, most recently during the 2017-18 and 18-19 campaigns- although he was also a Motormen during their previous Isthmian spell. Great Wakering Rovers was another of his clubs.

Earlier this season he played three times for Enfield, another club where he had also played previously- indeed he left the E's in March 2022 for Welling Town.
