Nearly seventeen thousand through the Christmas doors!

By Ian Townsend

Despite a number of postponements, we still had bumper crowds

Monday and Tuesday saw a number of postponements, for weather and covid reasons (but, for once, mainly the former) but we still managed to attract nearly seventeen thousand spectators to watch our matches.

The Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division led the way, with six thousand, seven hundred and forty four fans watching eight matches. The biggest crowd came yesterday, when two thousand, two hundred and thirty nine delayed kick off to cram into Nyewood Lane as Bognor Regis Town entertained Worthing. On Monday Horsham v Lewes attracted one thousand, two hundred and eighty four, whilst there were nine hundred and sixty six watching Cheshunt versus Enfield Town and eight hundred and thirty six at Folkestone Invicta v Merstham.

The Pitching In Isthmian North Division, which attracted three thousand and eleven fans, had the second biggest crowd of the week as one thousand, three hundred and fourteen watched Bury Town v Stowmarket Town, whilst one thousand, one hundred and nineteen watched Herne Bay host Whitstable Town in the Pitching In Isthmian South East, which had four thousand, four hundred and twenty seven people watch its nine matches. Burgess Hill Town's Mid Sussex derby with Haywards Heath Town welcomed eight hundred and three, whilst six hundred and twenty two went to Ramsgate.

The Pitching In Isthmian South Central saw two thousand, four hundred and ninety one people at six games, led by the seven hundred and forty who watched the thriller between Basingstoke Town and Thatcham Town. That was closely followed by the seven hundred and twenty one who watched Bracknell Town v Binfield.

That's a total of sixteen thousand, six hundred and seventy three- which averages out at five hundred and seventy five per match.
