New keeper for Marlow

Aaron Watkins signs on for the side with the best defensive record in England*

Marlow last night announced the signing of goalkeeper Aaron Watkins, who will be needed immediately due to Simon Grant's suspension.

Marlow have only conceded seven league goals this season- fewer than any other side in the top eight levels of English football (Bracknell Town, also of the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division, are second in that list with eight), so Aaron will have big shoes to fill.

Manager Mark Bartley explained:

'I'm delighted to welcome Aaron to the club. He's a goalkeeper that is well known to me, having played for Flackwell Heath under my good friend Marcus Richardson. He has even, previously, appeared for us in a pre-season friendly.

His goalkeeping ability is unquestionable, and his agility was evident with a fantastic save he made on Tuesday at Didcot. He will, undoubtedly, be a great addition to the squad. The players know him and trust him, and that will expedite him settling in at the club."

Aaron came through the Reading Academy, and has previously turned out for Thatcham Town, Basingstoke Town and Hanwell Town.

Marlow travel to Northwood today.
