Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Three Bridges

By Ian Townsend

We’re off to Crawley, and Stuart Russell gives us a very brief tour of Three Bridges- and makes the odd controversial comment!

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. Stuart Russell is a man of very few words, but some of them might smart a little!

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

Beating Phoenix Sports six-nil on the last day before covid wiped out the season again. Me and Rupert sponsored the match ball and gave man of match. A great day.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

Tom Tolfrey, if he’s fit, is the best forward in this league. Also Michael Wilson, a great young player.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Mid-table or top half would be great. We are not a town like everyone else . We’re just a district in Crawley and punch above our weight every year.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Burgess Hill Town to see the legend that is Pav our old kitman!

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Tooting and Mitcham United, for the big terraces behind the goals. I really don’t understand the love in about Lewes? I think the clubhouse is poor and the ground nothing special.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

East Grinstead Town. They don't like us, and we don't like them.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

We have a great clubhouse and good food, and are a five minute walk from Three Bridges station, so there’s no need to go anywhere else.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

The Legend that is John Lansdale. Eight years at Bridges and played every position including in goal. Home or away he comes over to me and Rupert, shakes our hands and thanks us for coming.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Hastings United, Ashford United, Whitehawk, Burgess Hill Town, VDC Athletic
