Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Kingstonian

By Ian Townsend

We’re back in the Premier Division, and Ollie Underwood is taking us to the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. Ollie brings us words from Kingstonian.

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

The 2-0 home win against Hornchurch, we looked good and were the better side ( I only saw 8 of 12 competitive games thanks to COVID.)

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

Jason Banton and Danial Ajakaiye both looked good in pre-season.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Playoffs- but 1st would be nice!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Worthing, always a good turn out from both teams.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Worthing. A nice ground and it’s near the beach, the town isn’t that bad either. Though we play them on a Tuesday night.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Corinthian-Casuals and Leatherhead locally, but in the league Bognor regis Town, Worthing, Hornchurch, Folkestone Invicta, Lewes, Horsham, Carshalton Athletic and Margate (isn’t that almost everyone?).

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

They are very few pubs in and around Tolworth, sadly.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Rob Tolfrey- do I need to explain why? He’s a Ks legend, He’s celebrated 11 years at Ks, and he’s chasing the record appearances and will hopefully break it this season.

Bobby Traynor: Another much loved by all the Ks fans, he had six successful seasons with the Kingstonian, scoring 146 goals in 250 appearances, winning three divisional golden boots and helping the club to promotion to the Premier Division during the 2008–09 season. Would have loved him to stay longer at Ks but he’ll be remembered for two iconic moments against Sutton United, the 90th minute winner at home and a stunning overhead kick in the playoffs away.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Worthing Hornchurch, Margate, Kingstonian, Lewes

Look out for the final predicted tables later this week!
