Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 22-23: Three Bridges

By Ian Townsend

We start our supporters predictions series at Three Bridges, courtesy of Tom Fry.

We're asking fans from each of our clubs to answer a series of questions about the past, present and future- and to predict the final league table for 22-23. Tom of Bridges is up first.

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Getting to the semi-final of the Sussex Senior Cup was a massive achievement for the club. The ‘performance of the month’ 5-1 win against Ashford United was a personal highlight in the league season too, plus the away wins at Sevenoaks Town and Haywards Heath Town.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2022-23?

90% of the players from last season remain with the club so the squad is very settled going into the new league year. One new addition is Kieran Pammett from Saltdean who will definitely add something to the right wing. There is an exciting core of players coming through from the youth setup too and it will be interesting to see how they adapt to senior football.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

The 19 other answers you get from the other club supporters in this league will say Three Bridges will finish bottom two or three, as they do every season! In reality, I think we will finish mid-table, maybe just within the top half at a push. The squad is settled and has played together for a few years now and having a fit Dan Perry (hopefully!) for all the season this time round will be key.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

All the Sussex derbies; the games against East Grinstead and Haywards Heath in particular are always fiery. Looking forward to visiting the new grounds in Sheppey, Beckenham and Chatham too.

5. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Facilities wise, Ashford United have a really good setup for this level. For atmosphere, I think Littlehampton Town will be a good away trip this season.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

East Grinstead; both clubs are 20 minutes apart and you can’t get any closer than that for a local derby. Although there’s a mutual respect there, neither team really likes each other for 90 minutes!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Getting to the ground is so simple as we’re a 5 minute walk from a mainline station. The bar staff and tea bar staff are the nicest you will meet in this league too and always happy to help.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

When I first started following Bridges as 12 year old (and I’m now 30!) Pat Massaro and Simon Funnell were two fans favourites and led the line for the team. Of recent years, John Lansdale was a favourite of everyone at the club and would always have time for everyone; he still visits from time to time and will always be welcome.

9. Who do you predict will finish in the top five this season?

1 Whitehawk
2 Sevenoaks Town
3 Cray Valley PM
4 Ashford United
5 Burgess Hill Town
