Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 22-23: Herne Bay

By Ian Townsend

Fin Dodds gives us the lowdown on all things Bay

We're asking fans from each of our clubs to answer a series of questions about the past, present and future- and to predict the final league table for 22-23. We’re off to newly-promoted Herne Bay, courtesy of Finn.

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
Last season there were lots of great moments- but my favourite has to be the play offs. The way we won the play offs, and how the Haywards Heath game went with a win on penalties in the semi final -that has to be my favourite moment of the season. Also the 7-2 derby day win against Whitstable was a great day.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2022-23?

I think Mike West will have the biggest impact. His experience last season is why I think we got to the play offs, and he’s played at higher levels so he should still do really well.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
The goal is to stay up, as being newly promoted we will most likely be predicted to be towards the bottom. But I think we will place mid table!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I am looking forward to all the derby days such as Margate, Folkestone and Hastings- but the game I am also looking forward to is Canvey Island away. After their play off win I think the game will be a good game to watch, and they have good fans.

5. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

My favourite Isthmian away ground is Hastings United. Last season I missed Hastings away and it was a great game, so I’m looking forward to going next season.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Our biggest rivals have to be Whitstable Town, but we won’t see them for a few years. This season, then, it probably has to be Margate- because it’s a local derby which will create a great atmosphere.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Don’t just come to the football- have a day out in Herne Bay. There are lots of activities you can do before the football starts, so you can have a good day down at the seaside.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

My favourite player at HBFC is Keiron Campbell He was vital last season, and just able to watch him play every week is a pleasure.

9. Who do you predict will finish in the top five this season?
Bishop’s Stortford, Billericay Town, Folkestone Invicta, Enfield Town, Lewes
