Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 22-23: Westfield

By Ian Townsend

Theo Powell brings us a guide to Westfield, and invites you to have lunch with his grandmother!

We're asking fans from each of our clubs to answer a series of questions about the past, present and future- and to predict the final league table for 22-23. We’re off to Surrey, and heading to the very best park of Woking, where Theo Powell is our guide.

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
There wasn’t a lot! A slightly underwhelming season, but we stayed in the division so that was a plus. My favourite game was probably Ashford away in January, late winners are always special.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2022-23?

There’s been a lot of change this summer, but I’m excited to see Andy Crossley and Harry Carter return, as well as the new signings of Sonny Wheeler in goal and Troy Walters up top.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I think we’ll finish top 10 this season. It may seem optimistic following last season, but from what I’ve seen in Pre Season I’ve been impressed.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

The game I always look forward to most is Chertsey away, great crowd, good atmosphere and this year it’s around the festive period so it’ll have an extra buzz around it.

5. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
My favourite away ground would have to be Imperial Fields, home of Tooting and Mitcham. Slightly old school, but the terracing behind either goal is excellent, accompanied by the awesome grandstand behind the dugouts.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Wouldn’t say we particularly have a great rivalry with any side in the division, but there always seems to be a more fiercely competitive atmosphere when we play Chertsey as a result of the locality between the two sides drawing in a larger crowd than usual.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Try the food! It’s gained a reputation over the past few seasons as being excellent, and I have first-hand experience of how good it is as it’s made by my Nan!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Gary Ross. Unfortunately doesn’t play for us anymore, but was a top keeper and captain for us over the seasons he played, as well as being a great bloke off the field too.

9. Who do you predict will finish in the top five this season?

Leatherhead, Basingstoke Town, Uxbridge, Walton and Hersham, Chertsey Town

Thanks Theo! We’re about to close this feature and print the predicted tables- so if you asked for the questions and haven’t yet sent them back, please hurry! Predicted tables will be posted from Wednesday.
