Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions: Bowers & Pitsea

By Ian Townsend

We're off to Bowers & Pitsea, in the company of Alan Warner

We're asking fans from each of our clubs to answer a series of questions about the past, present and future- and to predict the final league table for 22-23. Alan takes us on a tour of the Len Salmon.

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Everyone talks about the FA cup game at Lincoln and rightly so but in a season of many poor results there were several other highs. The FA cup replay at Hornchurch was amazing, as was beating Hornchurch at home on our last home game, but above all the 3-2 win at Brightlingsea must be my favourite. A miserable Tuesday away from home 2-0 down with 2 mins to go and we were getting a lot of stick from their fans. We ended up scoring 2 good goals and then a third straight from kick off in added time. One of our fans was on a date night with his missus and another busted his head open celebrating. It was a funny journey back to Pitsea that night!

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2022-23?

We have a brand new squad this year as all the 1st team players left so that’s a tough one, but from pre season so far I’d say Bola will be very good for us. He’s such a character and clearly gives his all. At the back VJ Mendes will become more and more important as the season goes on.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I guess the main aim is to stay up. With so many new players it could be a rocky start but I’d love to finish even just 1 place above what we managed last year.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Canvey away – I love Canvey’s ground and have a lot of friends over there. Having a big club like Billericay will be great too, and of course Horsham for the food!

5. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
Lewes blew me away with how unique it is so I’m really looking forward to going there again.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Of the teams in our league is got to be Canvey. There’s a lot of history there!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

The ground’s not the easiest to get to if travelling by train ( it’s about 20 minutes walk), but once you’re here you will be given a very warm welcome. It’s a newish ground with just one end yet to be developed. But just mix with the home fans and if you need any advice Disco Dave is always on hand.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Ah! That’s not easy, from my time at the club I would have to say James White. Proper, proper leader and gave absolutely everything while he was at the club. Monville, and Lew Manor would be right up there too.

9. Who do you predict will finish in the top five this season?

In no particular order: Enfield Town, Potters Bar Town, Billericay Town, Folkstone Invicta, Lewes
