Promotion chasers need cash injection

Folkestone Invicta officials have told supporters they need to help raise £10,000 to keep their promotion-chasing Ryman South squad together.

Supporters attending an open meeting on Monday night heard that players' wages for the rest of the season couldn't be guaranteed without a cash injection.

Invicta, currently fourth in the table, remain debt free but have been hit badly in the pocket by storm damage at the Fullicks Stadium and the postponement of home games over Christmas and New Year.

Fans are now considering three fundraising suggestions put forward by manager Neil Cugley and Chairman Mark Jenner - selling life season tickets at £1,000 each, revamping the 'Friends of Folkestone Invicta' scheme with the aim of twenty fans donating £100 each and increasing sales of raffle tickets to people outside the club.
