Signed in January from Ryman South leaders Tooting & Mitcham United, the 21-year-old former Stoke City and Leicester City forward, pictured, is on his way back to the UK from South America after earning his fourth cap on Tuesday night in a goalless draw with Martinique in an international friendly.
Having scored twice in his previous appearances, Barrington and the rest of the Golden Jaguars drew a blank in front of a capacity home crowd at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden against a Martinique side preparing for their upcoming 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign in Group B alongside the United States, Panama and either Haiti or Nicaragua.
If Barrington - who's also turned out for Bishop's Stortford, Grays Athletic, Margate, Nuneaton Town and Walton Casuals - isn't ready to return on Saturday when the Greens host promotion-chasing Tonbridge Angels, Hendon manager Gary McCann will be confident his squad can cope after they secured three precious points with a 4-0 win in a relegation six pointer at AFC Sudbury last weekend.
In a statement wishing him well before he set off, the Greens said: "Everyone at Hendon congratulates Marcel on his call-up, hopes that he has a safe journey to and from the game and gets the chance to show what we all know he can do on the pitch."
