Robins and Seasiders bow out- but the Geordies get four

By Ian Townsend

Our Round up of three competitive matches and a collection of friendlies

We didn’t have the best of days in the FA Trophy. Felixstowe and Walton United, who had defeated two giants in the last two rounds, headed north- but couldn’t manage to slay giant number three as Basford United, currently second in the Pitching In Northern Premier League, came away with a three-nil win. You can watch highlights of that match here.

Carshalton Athletic were also on the road, as they travelled to take on Swindon Supermarine. The top team in Swindon are currently in sixth place in Pitching In Southern Premier South, and although they couldn’t score, neither could the Robins- so the match went to penalties, and the home side came out on top, five-four.

Our third competitive match was in the London Senior Cup, and saw two South Central rivals meet as Barking hosted Hanwell Town. This was the Geordies first competitive match since the end of October, but any concerns that they might be a little ring rusty were soon dispelled as they fired in four first half goals, Ogo Obi (2), Harry Rush and Daniel Carr finding the back of the home net. Junior Dadson got one back for the Blues after the break, but that was that. Headline image courtesy of Tom at shootthephoto.com. You can also find a report, more photographs and the programme from the match here.
