Robins up to sixth...

...whilst Rovers and Swans progress to the Fourth Round of the Velocity Cup

Carshalton Athletic overcame the challenge of Billericay Town at Colston Avenue last night, a goal in each half sending them up to sixth place in Pitching In Isthmian Premier.

The Robins broke the deadlock just before the break, a foul on Kurtis Cumberbatch being followed by a penalty award, and the spot kick put away by King of the Penalties Gus Sow. On fifty four minutes Matt Vigor effectively ended the contest, finding the bottom corner of the Stortford net from just outside the area to make it two-nil.

Athletic are one point outside the top five, whilst the visiting Blues are eleventh, their away form still thwarting any push towards the top end of the table. That's two wins and five defeats from their time on the road- and their second defeat in Surrey this month. Billericay travel to Margate on Friday night.

In the Velocity Cup Sutton Common Rovers travelled to Binfield, their second trip to the home of the Moles this season. In the league the hosts triumphed three-two, but Rovers got some revenge last night as Tyrese Sutherland got the only goal of the game shortly after half time. Leatherhead will visit Church Road in the next round.

Walton and Hersham fell behind in their tie against Southall, Joseph Otudeko putting the visitors ahead in the first half- and it looked like they were out, despite playing the last twenty minutes against ten men after Frankie Taylor was sent off for Hall. Right at the end, however, Maliq Morris stepped up and delivered an equaliser, and off we went to penalties. The Swans turned out to far better from the spot, winning five-three- and travel to Carshalton Athletic in the next round.
