Rocks hit seven- and the Moles trip up the Green Lions

By Ian Townsend

We had two matches last night, and two away victories. Here's a brief round up.

In the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division last night, Binfield made their first ever trip to the Channel Islands to face Guernsey- and the Moles will have created fabulous memories of the Island as they departed with three goals and three points.

In front of a crowd of six hundred and thirteen it took the visitors seventeen minutes to make the breakthrough, Billy Montague finding the bottom corner. They were ahead for only eighteen minutes, however, as Ross Allen stepped up to slot home his twelfth goal of the campaign. This one came from the spot, and continues his exceptional strike rate- this was only his fifteenth appearance.

After the break the visitors quickly took the lead, Sean Moore firing home from the edge of the box. Despite their best efforts the Green Lions couldn't find an equaliser, and three minutes from time a fabulous strike from Gabriel George made sure of the points. The Moles are up to eighth, Guernsey remain eighteenth.

Closer to home- for most of us, anyway- Romford were entertaining East Thurrock United in the Velocity Trophy; although it seems that the visiting Rocks did all of the entertaining. It was one-nil at half time, courtesy of a goal from Ollie Miles eight minutes before the break, but the next forty five minutes were rather a different story, as United added six more. Miles got two of those to claim a hat trick and the match ball, Jake Thompson added two, Samuel Osei-Owusu and an own goal got the others, as the Rocks turned around their recent form in style. Sadly for Boro, that wait continues, with thirteen goals conceded in five days.
