Ryman clubs back Non-League Day

By Peter Butcher

IT’S Non-League Day on Saturday, when many clubs take advantage of the absence of Premier League and Championship fixtures to attempt to lure new fans to their games.

Ryman North clubs Aveley and Romford have got together to offer a special discount to supporters who want to attend two matches. Aveley’s home match against Brentwood kicks off at 1pm and then, a two-minute drive away at Thurrock’s Ship Lane base, Romford host Soham at 3pm.

Combined tickets for the two games are £10 for adults, £6 concessions if purchased in advance (contact craigjohnson@aveleyfc.freeserve.co.uk for details), £12/£8 on the day.

In addition, Romford are making it a Blue and Gold Day, aiming to fill their main stand with the club colours. All paying customers will be given a free blue and gold t-short to wear and £2 from every entry fee will be given to Great Ormond Street Hospital (those with the £10 two-match tickets will be invited to put £2 in the collection bucket).

Horsham have announced that all children will be able to watch their game against Walton Casuals free of charge, and they have invited Forest Flyers, a disabled football team, to be their guests.

Wingate & Finchley’s home game against Concord has been declared “Pay What You Want" day. Any supporter visiting the ground will be able to choose how much they wish to pay for a ticket (usual fixed prices of £10 adults, £5 concessions, £3 U16's and free for U12's). There will be other activities on the day, focusing on ensuring a fun day out for children: for more information see the club website www.wingatefinchley.com.
