Saturday through a lens- 31st October 2020

By Ian Townsend

Many of our photographers spent Saturday afternoon in the rain, perhaps with their camera wrapped in a plastic bag, but they delivered some fine shots

Yesterday wasn't a day for being a photographer, and there's every chance that many of our finest snappers are today wrapped up in bed with a Lemsip (other bitter tasting cold cures are available) in an attempt to finally warm up. We thought we'd share some of their work with you, and link to the rest so that you can give them the appreciation they deserve. So here we go, in no particular order.

We're going to start at Barking- indeed we're using them in our headline- as Terry Gilbert perfectly captured this acrobatic effort from Isaac Westendorf which put the Blues ahead in the FA Trophy. Visitors Sittingbourne struck back to level, but the Blues won on penalties- and you can see all of Terry's images here.

Also in the Trophy, Chris Neal photographed Burgess Hill Town's win over Harrow Borough, and we feature volunteer and programme editor Colin Bowman getting his hands dirty and his feet wet. See the rest of Chris's shots here.

Kev Lamb was watching Aveley, who- as usual- made light work of a Trophy match against higher division opposition. Find his images here.

In the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, Neil Dady photographed the entertaining draw between Bury Town and Romford. His images will be here later today.

Mandy Davies photographed Waltham Abbey's home defeat to Westfield in the Pitching In South Central Division- follow her here- and took an unpleasant photograph of some chips which have been defiled.

In the same division, look out for Kelsi O'Connor's shots from Harlow Town's latest defeat against Chalfont St Peter. Follow her here for more.

Corinthian-Casuals had a Halloween to remember both on and off the pitch. Follow Stuart Tree and head to Andy Nunn's page to review the action. No monsters, little or otherwise, were harmed, but there was some horrific defending as Casuals defeated Hendon five-four!

Kyle Hemsley photographed Whitehawk's Trophy loss to Cray Wanderers here, as did Andy Schofield here.

Also in Sussex, John Lines photographed Horsham's shootout defeat to Welwyn Garden City, and you can see his shots here.

Finally, Matt White covered the match between Chesham United and Whyteleafe in the Trophy, Leafe eventually departing the competition after a shootout after a late home equaliser denied them victory. Head here to take a look.
